Song Contest 40 - Results

Welcome to the results of Song Contest 40!

Just a reminder, the Song Contest is officially going on a hiatus for a short while after this. This is for a couple of reasons:

1 - I'm just a bit burned out. You'll all have noticed longer gaps between the deadline hitting and the actual page being posted. This is generally due to me simply not getting around to sending out reminders and such. Hopefully a break will refresh me.

2 - We are running out of space. Literally. Wix has a page cap of 100 pages and we're at 87. This would allow just 6 more contests before something needs fixing anyway. So at some point during the downtime I plan to rejig the site in some fashion to allow it to work better for us and not use quite so many pages. Even if that means a bit of funky editing to group pages together in some fashion.

Messages will be sent out as soon as I'm up for restarting it all.

Now... onto the Results

We start off with Bearville!

USA takes the early lead, with Phyrexia being the only country to not receive points from our opening country. Let's check over with Nowhereville for their results!

A slow start for Phyrexia as they are yet to get off the starting grid. Alaria however take the lead with both USA and Loompaland in joint second. A long way to go still though, so let's check in with Cloudland!

Nowhereville take a twelve but only just move onto the left hand side. Phyrexia pick up their first point, and Loompaland jump into the lead while Alaria drop back to join USA in third! Speaking of which, USA are up next.

Poland take a twelve and move up into second place, while Loompaland retain the top spot. Phyrexia move further up the board as well with Cloudland now taking the bottom position. Plainterra, currently in fourth, are up next though.

Loompaland stay in first, but Grumbo Fauxminica (Hereafter known as just Grumbo, because that's a bugger to type, especially when having to retype all of this a second time - ed) leap up to second. It's still very close across the board though, and we head over to Grumbo for their points.

Another twelve for Nowhereville and that puts them into first, with Loompaland only trailing by a single point, and Poland behind them by just one point, it's truly all to place for. Phyrexia has once again been landed in last place, seeminly having a battle with Bearville for last position. Let's check in with Great Britain and their results!

Poland take twelve and are immediately thrust into first place! But Great Britain are at risk of falling out of that mass grouping of countries. Will Loompaland help or hinder them? Let's find out now!

Nowhereville take the top spot again with Poland being pushed back into second. Great Britain now tie with Cloudland and both need a full twelve points to even catch back up with the pack above them, let alone get involved. We have just four countries left to vote though, so it still really is anyone's game.

With that said, Cloudland get their twelve points and do indeed make a solid jump towards the pack. Great Britain receive eight points, helping them out immensely, while Phyrexia receive ten poinst. Proving that Alaria is much more open minded than most thus far as all their top points went to countries on the lower end of things. Poland still sit in second place, but it's over to them next! Will they stay where they are or lose position?

Losing position it is as they drop to fourth! Great Britain take a strong ten points however while they are catching up there's only two countries left to vote, one of which is Phyrexia which means they and Bearville are officially out of the running to win. Nowhereville still sits at the top, but with everyone so close behind them that a single twelve could put Alaria from eighth to first, it's not that comfortable at the top. It's over to Hallownest for their votes!

Twelve to Great Britain, but they remain on the right hand side! Alaria fall out of the running, but it's still entirely possible for all of the countries above Alaria to still win. Loompaland are the current leaders. Will Phyrexia's votes change that, or will Loompaland cling on right at the end?

And Loompaland take the victory for Song Contest 40, with Nowhereville in second, and Great Britain seemingly coming from nowere to take third! A well fought contest by all, and personally one of my favourites.
