Welcome to the results of Song Contest 41!

Before we begin, sign ups are officially open for Song Contest 42.

SC42 Entry Deadline:

Saturday 31st August - 11:59pm GMT

Please check the home page for full details on how to enter.

Reminder:  ties are not really shown in any form of order, merely what the program outputs them as. I'll manually edit the final image if there is a tie amongst the top 3 countries, but if it's lower down it will be noted in the text and on the Previously Entered song list.

Reminder: As of now all winners from 20 contests ago are available to be entered again. This will continue going forwards. This is due to the fact there's a long gap between entries and we get a lot of new people entering, so opening up things seems better.

That said, the same song by the artist is still banned, so be sure to check the song has not been previously entered still.

Bonus Note: There will be a Live Song Contest coming up that will conclude on the 30th of November. It will still be a standard contest, but for those around the local area you'll be given invites for it. This contest will be exactly as normal with one additional rule that song lengths will be limited (potentially to 3 minutes 30 seconds at max, but that may change based on average entry numbers nearer the time). So keep that in mind when picking songs. It will still be a normal contest that can be voted on in the normal manner, but you may also attend and vote live. Results will still be posted online later that day.

For now, on with the results!

Unfortunately 3 countries failed to vote, those being Don't Know, Latvia and United Kingdom, and so all receive minus 20 points.

First up Strangaal!

And England take the early lead while... almost the entire pack are still on zero points. Let's save some time and I'll come back after the first six countries have voted when there's something to discuss.

And I'm back! As it stands Japan are in the lead but only by a single point as Bearville are very close behind. Midgard and Utopia III aren't far behind either. At the bottom of the pack only three countries are yet to receive points, those being Madeupistan, Mars and United Kingdom who are also on the minus twenty for not voting. AWOLnation are up next for their votes however, so let's take a look at what happens with them.

AWOLnation.png

Japan extend their lead, while Bearville, Midgard and Utopia III receive no points at all. Mars however is off the starting block and moving upwards. There's a long way to go however, but Madeupistan won't be receiving points just yet as we go over to them for their results!

Madeupistan.png

Winchesterville jump up to a joint second with Japan (Japan would be first with tiebreakers though), with Bearville just a single point behind them. United Kingdom finally get their first points on the board too. WIll they, Don't Know and Latvia remain on negative points or will they be at least able to finish on positive points? Let's check in with our current leaders, Japan, to see what happens with our results.

And Japan fall to third as both Bearville and Winchesterville overtake them! It's quite a lead Bearville now have over fourth place, but we aren't even halfway through the results yet, so let's keep moving as we look across to Mars for their points.

A well needed twelve for Strangaal there moves them further up the rankings. Bearville remain in the lead but Japan are catching them up again. Utopia III are also moving back into contention for the top of the board. Moving on we have Poland giving their results.

Twelve points to Taj Mahal, and they desperately needed it, but they remain on the right hand side of the board. Utopia III are now in joint second with Japan, leaving just a three point gap between the top three. Madeupistan also get their first points on the board! Up next to give their results are Republic of Chad!

Republic of Chad.png

And Utopia III take the top spot! Bearville and Japan receive no points from Republic of Chad and so Utopia III have a decent lead suddenly! Back at the bottom end of things Don't Know, Latvia and United Kingdom remain on negative points. Will Romania help to change any of that?

Romania.png

Moving past the halfway mark and Latvia pull themselves into positive digits, while Don't Know have reached the starting line At the top end, while Bearville received points, and Utopia III didn't, it isn't enough to change the overall standings. Speaking of Bearville, they are up next, so will they remain in second or are they dropping further down?

Bearville.png

No change on the top two, but Phyrexia has leapt into third place putting them in spitting distance of Bearville, and a good shot at overtaking Utopia III. We look over to Spain for their results to see what they do to the rankings.

No points go to any of the top three, but seven to England brings them up to tie with Phyrexia in third, and the four way tie for fifth place makes things very tight at the top. With ten countries left to vote there's still a potential one hundred and twenty points up for grabs, so even United Kingdom aren't totally out of the running just yet. Hallownest are next up to give their results!

Hallownest.png

Strangaal move to the left side of the board with that twelve, while Germanyland up into contention themselves. Utopia III remain in first, but Phyrexia are a single point behind them. It's extremely close and Taj Mahal are up next to shake things up.

Taj Mahal.png

Twelve points to NUSA shift them onto the left hand side of the board, while Utopia III stretch their lead again, but only slightly. Only ten points between first and fifth mean any of them can take the lead with anyone's vote. United Kingdom however still remain on negative points. We now go over to NUSA for their results.

NUSA.png

Apparently trading twelves with Taj Mahal as NUSA give their twelve to them in return, which also knocks NUSA back to the right hand side of the proceedings. More importantly at the top however is Phyrexia overtaking Utopia III as NUSA gave no points at all to Utopia II, and sorely missed earlier, Germanyland have moved into third place! The gap at the top is starting to widen. But it's Phyrexia up next, will that harm their chances?

Phyrexia.png

Apparently not as they remain in first, but England move up to tie with Utopia III in second. Spain received a well needed twelve moving them over to the left side now, and knocking Taj Mahal back down to the right. It's Utopia III up next to give their votes, so will they remain in second, or drop down the board?

Utopia III.png

And drop down they do as both they and England are jumped over by Bearville and Germanyland, the latter of which takes the lead! With only five countries left to vote the maximum points available are 60, which means United Kingdom, who finally got into the positive points, are also out of the running for winning at this stage. We're also now about to check in with new leaders Germanyland, so are they staying there or falling back?

Germanyland.png

They fall back to second as Bearville now take the lead! Utopia III have failed to receive points for a while and have dropped way back to seventh! Germany land and Phyrexia now take the second and third spots respectively. As there are only 48 points maximum left remaining Republic of Chad and below are also now out of the running for first place. A country still in the running however is England, so let's see how their results affect the standings.

England.png

Germanyland takes the twelve, but Bearville takes the ten, so Bearville remain in first! Just thirty six points can be given at most now and that means even more countries are eliminated from the running, Cloudland and below have been removed from the running. Poland needs all twelves to win right now. Will they get them as we go to Winchesterville?

Winchesterville.png

And no is the answer. Not a single point in fact. All three of our top three received points however, which helps extend their lead. Bearville and Germanyland are now tied for first. With just two countries left to vote we're getting very close at the end. Utopia III and below have now dropped out of the race, and only the top six remain. Let's check in with Midgard for the penultimate results!

Midgard.png

And Phyrexia move into first again, while Bearville and Germanyland sit just two points behind them in joint second! Strangaal could tie with Phyrexia and, due to tie breakers, would be winning. So just four countries have a chance at securing victory, Ukraine is giving the deciding vote...

1st: Phyrexia - VILLAIN ft. Madison Beer and Kim Petras - K/DA

Phyrexia take the top spot with 101 points! One of the few countries to get triple digits in the results. Just to go through the tiebreakers further down, Don't Know finished above Ambrosia, all the rest are in the correct order already.

Thankyou to all who entered, and I hope to see you all back for the next one. Remember the live contest coming up in November (it should work out to number 46) and be aware that will be limited on song length as stated above.

Be sure to check the main page for which artists are banned.

As always entries are open for the next Song Contest, so please enter in the usual way, and please be sure to vote if you enter as it does take away from the effort others put in to listen to all of the entries and from the amount of time it takes to edit everything for everyone to enjoy.
