Welcome to the results of Song Contest 44!

Before we begin, sign ups are officially open for Song Contest 45.

SC45 Entry Deadline:
Wednesday 30th October - 11:59pm GMT
Please check the home page for full details on how to enter.

Reminder: ties are not really shown in any form of order, merely what the program outputs them as. I'll manually edit the final image if there is a tie amongst the top 3 countries, but if it's lower down it will be noted in the text and on the Previously Entered song list.

Bonus Note: This is the final contest before the live one. The live Song Contest will take place as part of Song Contest 46. Entries will be open as usual after this contest, with normal restrictions, plus the added restriction of limiting video length to 3:30. This means the entire video, not just the song playing, keep this in mind. The contest will proceed as normal, with everyone able to vote online as usual, but some will be invited to watch live and vote on November 30th. In addition, I generally save the country name you enter as for the following contest, this will be extended from after this contest to Song Contest 47 to allow people to change their country for the live contest if they so wish to retain anonymity in the normal contests.

For now, on with the results!

First up United States!

A very friendly twelve to the UK there, but as always there's a long way to go so let's go straight over to Italia for their points!

NUSA move to the top, with the UK and Germanyland sharing second. Alaria, Hallownest, Poland and Strangaal still yet to receive points, let's check in with Nigeria and see if that changes!

And for two of our entries it does. But Strangaal and Hallownest remain on zero. Germanyland however takes a solid lead over NUSA at the top. Ambrosia are up next with their votes!

Twelve for Strangaal gets them off the bottom, and so Hallownest are the only ones left without a single point. Germanyland however still has a strong lead. Our current third place, Phyrexia, are next to give their results though!

And that gets everyone off the bottom as Hallownest also receive twelve. A very divisive contest it seems. All except for Germanyland thus far who are racing ahead with fourteen points ahead of Romania in second! UK, who have become rather stagnant, are up to give their results.

Germanyland's lead extends on second, and we have a new second place! Alaria are starting to catch up to our leaders. A lot of ties on the right hand side again (Don't fuck about this time. - Ed). Netherlands is up with their votes!

The lead for Germanyland is slashed by Alaria's ten points there as Germany;and don't get anything. Further down we still have three ties (I'm warning you. - Ed). Let's check in with NUSA who are currently in third.

Alaria take the top spot as Germanyland seem to have hit the brakes and come to a standstill, while United States come flying up behind them as well! Strangaal, who are tied with Poland are up next to give their results!

Alaria's lead has been extended to thirteen points, while Romania are catching back up to the top as they are tied with United States. Türkiye and UK are tied, as are Nigeria, Hammer Mountain and Poland (this is getting ridiculous. - Ed). Poland are up next to hopefully split some of those ties.

A successful split of three of those ties (Finally! - Ed), but Alaria remain in first. Still with a thirteen point lead, but now over Romania who has jumped into second place. Will they stay there when they give their results now though?

They do not, instead they drop to third, but Alaria only receives two points so it's still catchable for them. Just six countries left to go, which actually means everyone is still in with a chance of winning! Germanyland, who have left our top three, are up to vote!

Romania continue to advance on Alaria, but it's not enough yet as Alaria still take ten points. NUSA and Italia are tied once again, as are Nigeria and Poland, and Netherlands and Hallownest (Oh come on! - Ed). Alaria are up next though, so will that change the standings for them?

Romania are now just five points behind Alaria. It's really close as we enter the final stages of the contest. Even third is only ten points behind, but they are up next to vote, so let's check in with Utopia III.

Alaria receiving a much needed twelve there, and Romania stay hot on their heels! Utopia III remain in third as well. Just three countries left to vote, which also means the maximum points available are thirty six. So all countries under fifty points are automatically out of the running, as are Türkiye unfortunately as they are yet to vote, and so can only receive twenty four points. Let's check in now with Hammer Mountain for their points.

Another twelve for Alaria giving them a fourteen point lead with just two countries remaining! In fact, with those points only Alaria and Romania have a shot at winning this contest! Let's see if Alaria can lock in the victory now, or if there's still a battle to be had, as we head over to Hallownest.

Alaria remain in the lead, but it's not a certainty. Romania are ten points behind. Also a tie is no good as Alaria would win on tie breakers. So it's definitely all on the line as we look over to Türkiye to give us the final results of the contest.

1st: Romania - Green Day - Holiday

Romania takes the victory at the last moment from Alaria who don't get a single point from Türkiye, leaving them in second place. And far, far behind them is Italia in third on just 75 points. It's rare to see two runaway leaders like that. Even rarer, it puts Romania in the second overall points scorer from all contests. But rarest of all is Alaria have actually become joint fourth overall for points scored, despite being in second.

Unfortunately neither will get played during the intro to the live contest as the video with the 10 highest scoring entries was already prepared before this point, and I'm buggered if I'm going back to change it all again now.

As far as ties go, the only one at the end was NUSA and UK, and NUSA are correctly ahead as they received more ten points than UK did (1 to 0).

Thankyou to all who entered, and I hope to see you all back for the next one. Remember the live contest coming up in November (number 46) and be aware that will be limited on song length as stated above.

Be sure to check the main page for which artists are banned.
As always entries are open for the next Song Contest, so please enter in the usual way, and please be sure to vote if you enter as it does take away from the effort others put in to listen to all of the entries and from the amount of time it takes to edit everything for everyone to enjoy.
